“Judgy”

Yeah, I admit that my work is “judgy. ”

Unfortunately, I am constantly comparing the way the world is to what it might be—and my being a satirist is the result of my
irritation over the world’s failure to meet its potential; I have to say something about the shortcomings and problems that I see.

Making art may not cause substantive change, but it beats apathy and silence.
About

SMOLinski
I am a Canadian  artist and educator. My works veer from satirical social criticism and language corruption to meditative durational performances where the limits of creative engagement are explored.

I worked for many years in both Calgary and Toronto but recently moved to St. Catherines, Ontario. I currently teach at  the amazing Marilyn I. Walker School of the Fine and Performing Arts at Brock University and The Ontario College of Art & Design University.

I earned my PhD in Art from the University of Calgary for my dissertation,  Practices of Fluid Authority: Participatory Art and Creative Audience Engagement. My research was supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Fellowship.
